Sumo is a martial art originated in Japan that has been practiced since the 16th century. This is a full-contact competitive sport whereby a Sumo Wrestler (also known as a rikishi in Japanese language) attempts to force his/her opponent out of a circular ring (also known as the dohyo) or to touch the ground with anything other than the soles of the feet. Sumo is one among the non-Olympic sports.
